The works were performed in 2018-2020 under a public contract signed between RosGeo and Department of Mineral Resources in the Far Eastern Federal District within the National program of the Russian Federation "Reproduction and use of natural resources”.

At the first stage the hydrogeologists from Far-East PGA clarified the geological structure and hydrogeological conditions at the site of 16.7 km2 located in 2 km from the town. Then they identified the hydrogeological parameters of promising aquifers within selected sections of the subsurface assets, and studied the groundwater quality with assessment of its conformity with the intended purpose. The groundwater stocks in the studied site were estimated in 3800 m3 per day as per C2 category. This volume is sufficient to resolve the issue of backup water supply for the population of Bolshoy Kamen in case of emergency.

"Today, it is very important to provide a backup water supply for Bolshoi Kamen, given the prospects of the town development associated with construction of the tremendous shipbuilding plant “Zvezda”. However, nowadays the objective of finding the sources of additional water supply is important not only for Primorye, but also for other regions in the Far East, - emphasized Stanislav Chernitevich, Executive Director of Far-East PGA. - For example, the western part of Sakhalin suffers from unavailability of good quality drinking water. If regional authorities are interested, we are capable to render the assistance in surveys for reserve stocks of groundwater for the public needs, but insofar all major water surveys in the region have been performed by our experts only within the framework of federal contracts."

In 2015-2017 the experts of RosGeo under a public contract resolved in Primorye an issue of providing the backup water supply for district center of Kavalerovo and neighboring villages Rudniy, Khrustalniy, Fabrichniy and Gornorechenskiy. The geologists have estimated and successfully defended in Territorial Committee for Natural Reserves the groundwater reserves of C2 category in the volume of 2110 m3 per day.
