Rosgeo and Mineral Resources and Petroleum Agency of Mongolia (MRPAM) have made an Agreement of Cooperation on mineral exploration in the territory of Mongolia.

The signing took place as part of a visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Mongolian People’s Republic.

Sergey Gorkov, Director General, the Chairman of the Board of Rosgeo, and Khishigjargal Kherlen, Head of Mongolia Mineral Resources and Petroleum Agency, signed the Agreement in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Khaltmaagiin Battulga, President of Mongolia.

"We see this Agreement as a practical example of the successful development of good-neighborly relations and mutually beneficial economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and Mongolia," — Sergey Gorkov. "I am confident that our Company would make a significant contribution to the comprehensive geological survey and exploration in Mongolia using the up-to-date techniques and technologies, sophisticated high-tech methods of forecasting, identification, and integrated use of minerals.”

The Agreement defines the principal areas for cooperation between the Parties, among which are geological prospecting and explorations for oil and gas deposits, solid minerals, reproduction of mineral and raw resources of basic, rare and precious metals, construction and process materials, and agrochemical raw materials.

The Parties are also intent on cooperating in prospecting, exploration and development of underground freshwater deposits, training and skill enhancement of experts in the geological exploration sector of Mongolia.
