Primorgeologiya (Vladivostok, a branch of Far Eastern PGO, a subsidiary of the state holding RosGeo) has completed the drilling of the first five hydrological wells at a promising site located in the area of Bolshoi Kamen of Primorskiy territory. The purpose of these works is to search for groundwater to provide emergency water supply for the public in case of an emergency.

The site of 16,7 km 2 is located in two kilometers from Bolshoi Kamen. The specialists of the company will be working there by the end of 2020. During this period they will update the geological structure of the territory, determine the hydrogeological parameters of prospective aquifers within the selected subsurface areas, and also study the quality of groundwater and assess its conformity with the intended purpose.

The groundwater surveys are performed at the expense of the federal budget within the framework of a three-year public contract. The second stage of the project works in the field was started in 2019. Besides drilling, a wide range of geophysical well surveys, pilot filtration and hydrological works, as well as hydrochemical testing of surface and underground waters with detailed laboratory analysis are planned till the end of this year. The result will be the updated data of the geological structure and hydrogeological conditions of the territory near the town of Bolshoi Kamen. In addition, subsoil areas and prospective aquifers will be identified for further geological study, including the determination of hydrogeological parameters.

Also within the framework of the contract there is a survey of existing groundwater production and technogenic sources of its pollution.

Earlier, the specialists of Far Eastern PGO within the framework of a similar state order have already resolved the issue of emergency water supply for a number of residential settlements in Primorye: Kavalerov, Rudnoe, Khrustalnoe, Fabrichnoe, Gornorechensk.
