During the visit to the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Sergey Gorkov, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Rosgeo, has held the negotiations with Aysen Nikolayev, Head of the Republic, and taken part in the meeting on the outlook for the development of geological explorations in Yakutia, today.

"We see great opportunities for the development of mineral resource base in Yakutia, which are associated not only with oil and gas, but also with diamond, gold, silver and other minerals extraction," — Sergey Gorkov. "Rosgeo is currently engaged in the operations on 23 sites in Yakutia, the 15 of which are explorations for solid minerals and 8 – for oil and gas. Our system efforts have sustainable positive results and make a great contribution to the social and economic development of the Republic.”

The geological prospecting for crude hydrocarbons made by Rosgeo in Yakutia in 2016-2019 resulted in a growth of Category D resources more than 6,4 bln tons of coal equivalent. Following the geological explorations for solid minerals in the Republic in 2019, it is expected that the forecast resources of Categories P1+P2 would be increased up to 200 mln carats of diamonds, about 445 tons of gold, 17 thous. tons of silver and more than 250 mln tons of coal.

"In many aspects of minerals extraction, Yakutia holds leading positions not only in Russia, but also in the world, and these positions shall be kept. The oil industry is actively developed now, and in the coming years we will be at the forefront of gas production," — said Aysen Nikolayev. "Along with minerals extraction we shall be also engaged in geological exploration to maintain the balance reserves of the companies and country at the high level."

The Head of the Republic of Sakha thanked Sergey Gorkov for the approaches to the development of geological explorations in the region and expressed his confidence in the successful cooperation. In turn, Rosgeo's Director General pointed out the high level of the Holding cooperation with the Republic Management on a wide range of issues, including forecasting, prospecting and exploration of deposits, as well as State monitoring of the subsurface condition.

During the visit, Sergey Gorkov also met with the teams of Rosgeo subsidiaries – Yakutskgeologia and Yakutskgeophysica, where the current issues of their production operations and development prospects were discussed.
