The 3d International Meeting of young geologists GEOARTEK-2019 will start on 25 September 2019 in the Morskoy camp of the Artek International Children's Center, organized by Russian State Geological Prospecting University named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze (MGRI) and Rosgeo.

It will be the third year as competitive selection winners, children and teenagers from 11 to 17 years old meet in Artek — the ones that have shown a high level of knowledge in the field of Earth sciences, good skills in independent research and explorations focused on the geology and environment.

The interest in the project is constantly growing: 154 participants met in 2017, 176 participants – in 2018, and 235 young geologists are going to meet at GEOARTEK this year.

The meeting subject in 2019: "Geological expedition. Dreams come true.”

Within the geological session, consultants and tutors will acquaint children with the universal research approaches, methods of geological field and office studies, rules of safe operation during expeditions, and environmental requirements. There will be meetings and master classes with experts in the field of geology and related sciences. The participants will acquire skills in fieldwork during the expedition to the Ayu-Dag mountain.

The actions planned within the program framework are multi-disciplinary and complementary to basic school subjects. They are used to encourage participants to acquire a holistic view of the Earth as a planet and environmental cultural identity, to develop social responsibility, initiatives and leadership abilities.

The tutors, experts of the Rosgeo subsidiaries: Yuzhmorgeologia, Siberian Research and Development Institute of Geology, Geophysics and Mineral Resources, Central Geophysical Expedition, Central Production Geological Association, will share its knowledge and experience with young geologists during the whole session of GEOARTEK.
